New evangelical church

The Church was built in 1894 in so-called Eclectic style – consisting of Byzantine, Romanesque, Renaissance,
Moorish, and various Oriental elements. In 1909, the mausoleum of Emeric Thököly’s remains was built to the Church.
Emeric Thököly (1657 – 1705) was born in Kežmarok and he was the owner of the Castle, the leader of the unsuccessful
anti-imperial uprising of the Hungarian nobility, and the fighter for religious freedom.
