Step by step, the town of Kežmarok gains the term „modern.“
It tends to become a „Smart City,“ hence an intelligent town.
Kežmarok is making a progress in residential construction;
new shopping centres are being created. It has undergone
the modernisation of public lighting; the reconstruction of
energy distribution and sewage system continues; the flood
protection has increased; and more than forty cameras monitor
the safety of the citizens. We continue to digitize the town and
to modernize schools and the local hospital.
Thanks to new foreign investors, more than 1,000 jobs have
been created in the district and further are announced. The
town does not get into debts, although it repairs old projects
and invests in construction of the new ones. Thanks to the
cooperation between the town and the School of Economics
and Management in Public Administration, there has been an
opportunity to study directly in Kežmarok since 2018. In recent
years, the town has achieved several successes – the number
of EĽRO visitors has exceeded the boundary of sixty thousand;
the town won the award Senior friendly in 2016 and 2017. The
f
inancial health of the town is excellent and the transparency
is improving. We managed to resolve the 27-year old dispute
over the territory between Kežmarok and the municipality of
Ľubica. We can also pride ourselves on the other successes
of people from Kežmarok. The Boutique Hotel Hviezdoslav
respectively promotes the town. It has received several awards;
most recently the prestigious one, Historic Hotel Host of the
Year in 2017 and also the World Luxury Hotel Award a year
before.
