The area near the churches in Kežmarok is symbolically closed by the Statue of a female
torchbearer. It is located in a small green zone, in Park of Svetlonoska, opposite the New
Evangelical Church. It depicts a woman with a torch in her hand, the Gift of Light, inspired
by ancient mythology. Its life-size original (2 m) once really existed here. It was built in hon
or of the beginning of the electrification of the town in 1894. The original statue is currently
in the collection of the Kežmarok Museum. The replica of Kežmarok’s Statue of Svetlonoska
was ceremoniously unveiled in December 2016.
