The only proof – an iron seal with a guild’s patron
and scissors – confirms that the guild of tailors was
established in 1548 – preserved articles are from 1607.
The one who wanted to become a champion, had to
undergo a difficult master test during which they had to
sew seventeen things: three kinds of clerical clothing,
burgher coat, four different fur coats, an equestrian coat,
a Polish coat, a jupon with widened sleeves-cut, a bell
shaped cloak, two women’s coats, a cart cover, a canvas
tent. Most of these things were drawn in 1641 by Kežmarok
guild master Paul Radositz into his Materi-Buch – the book
of cuts, which is deposited in Kežmarok Museum.
