Folklore and dance ensembles

Folklore and dance ensembles are active in the town
as well: Magura, Magurák, Maguráčik, Goralik, Kesaj
Tchave, Dance Club Tempo, which represent us not only
on the domestic stages, but also abroad. In 1954, the
Folklore Ensemble Magura was founded as a section of
the House Club ROH Tatraľan in Kežmarok, in order to
collect, preserve, and interpret the folk art, songs, music
and dances of the sub-Tatra region, the Spiš region,
especially the Goral region. It was set up by a handful of
enthusiasts. The ensemble has risen during its 54-year
existence to become one of the leading folk ensembles
in Slovakia. It is known in almost all countries of Europe.
In order to achieve these goals, but also in order to intensify
joy of the ensemble work and deepen the relationship of
former, current and future members and supporters of our
Magura, the Magura friends club is established.
