Guild of weavers

The preserved articles of the guild are from 1587,
but the guild was probably created earlier as Kežmarok
weavers had already a common workshop in 1437. The
apprenticeship lasted three years, then the merchant
wandered for the same period across Central Europe
until he returned home to undergo a master exam, which
included a making of a certain amount of canvas. Each
master could work using only three looms – he used one
for making tablecloths for the market, the second and the
third was used to make a fustian or a canvas.
